Thank you to all of the wonderful volunteers who made this event great, including our friends at Focal Point on Aging and the Southern California Live Steamers!

Last week marked the 10th annual Rock Around the Block celebration put on by the Torrance Historical Society and Museum.

The 1950s-style family summer event brought out hundreds to Downtown Torrance’s Post Avenue where the streets were blocked off and families came out in droves to celebrate the All-America City Award given to Torrance back in 1956.  The annual event included a classic car show, hula hoop, pie eating and bubble gum blowing contests, face painting, cake walk and live performances by the Torrance Torrelles, an acapella group who sang a variety of 50’s and 60’s hit songs.  The South Bay Strummers, a group of ukulele players also entertained guests while enjoying dinner from the In-N-Out burger wagon.

You can watch the full coverage on the upcoming episode of Spotlight Torrance on Torrance CitiCABLE.
